If you are interested in or planning to burn firewood in Interior Alaska, or if you'd just like to learn more about it, you will find some outstanding information by visiting the sites below.

Click here for a free downloadable brochure from the Cold Climate Housing Research Center specifically for FNSB residents about handling and drying firewood.  Their recent research has found that under optimal summer conditions, properly handled firewood can dry enough to burn safely in as little as six weeks!

Click here for the Air Quality Fairbanks website in which you will find up-to-date information about our local PM2.5 program.

Click here for the State of Alaska Division of Forestry's very informative page about wood energy.  You will find information on everything from Alaskan firewood to wood stove installation here.

Click here for the University of Alaska - Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service's wood energy page.  This site contains an abundance of information on firewood burning in Interior Alaska!  If you have a question or concern about firewood and or firewood burning, you will most likely find the answer at this super site.

Click here for the EPA's "Burn Wise" website.  Here you will find a good amount of up-to-date information on the health effects of firewood burning and what you can do to make firewood burning a safer, cleaner, and healthier experience for your family, neighbours, and fellow citizens.

Click here for the State of Alaska's web page concerning air quality and particulate matter and what Alaskan firewood burners can do to operate their woodstoves safely and efficiently.  There are three downloadable pamphlets available on this page: one for woodstoves, one for catalytic woodstoves, and one for non-catalytic woodstoves.
